Women of Wellspring BLT Book Club – February 20th |
|
|
BLT is a Women of Wellspring (United Women in Faith) small group that meets monthly reading and discussing group selected books of interest. We meet every third Thursday in the upstairs Chapel of the church and by zoom for those not able to attend in person. BLT normally takes 3-4 months to discuss a book and then dedicates a month to share a fellowship dinner. BLT stands for Bible Led Teaching Bringing Ladies Together. This would be a great small group if you are looking for a women's fellowship/study group.
February is Black History Month and we will begin reading Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman, famously known as the text that Martin Luther King Jr. sought inspiration from in the days leading up to the Montgomery bus boycott. Howard Thurman’s book helped shape the civil rights movement and changed our nation’s history forever by demonstrating how the gospel may be read as a manual of resistance for the poor and disenfranchised. We will discuss the preface and first chapter when we meet on February 20th at 6 pm. For more information contact Cathy Wyman (csnwyman@wymanusa.org}

Hearts Transformed Class, Rm 203, 2nd Floor
This class studies the weekly worship sermon...
“The Equilibrium of Resurrection”
1 Corinthians 15:12-20 and Luke 6:17-26
The Resurrection of Christ is offered to us as a way of creating the hope of a future in which there is balance, equilibrium, and enough justice for all people to fully live. This will be painful to those who have much, and a sign of hope for those who have little. And we may not see the end results - we are planting trees by streams of water.
