Teacher Appreciation Week |
|
|
For Teacher's Appreciation week we wanted to know students’ thoughts on which teachers made a big impact on them this year. We asked multiple students in various grades which teacher inspired them the most and why.
Betsey Runsick, a 6th grader said, “Mrs. Hodges, because I don't really like reading but she's made reading more fun with book clubs, … and making it fun with projects that go along with what we are reading”.
Jack Bingenheimer, a junior, said “A teacher who's had a big impact on me would be Mr. Hines he's always nice to us even if we act up a little bit and he's he always listens to us and whenever it's not even about math and he's always there for us.
Freshman, Ainsley Brown said, “Mrs Arnold because she always wants us to do our best and work our hardest.”
Junior Nathan Morton said, “Mrs. Holland inspires me because she's a compassionate teacher and she cares about her students.”
We appreciate all of our teachers, and we thank them for putting so much effort into us.

Speak Up: Senior advice to Underclassmen

I would advise the student body to try new things like sports or clubs. Don’t worry if you're bad at it at first, you're new, so give yourself a break. I was always hard on myself, but the most fun I had was when I let myself have fun and mess up. I am so glad I tried out a different sport senior year, and there is nothing I would change about that experience. A big part of this idea is not being so concerned about being perfect. Whether in sports, clubs, or academics, you will only hurt yourself by trying to do every little thing right. I learned senior year that no one really cares as much as you think they do. You can be a little late to class — it’s not the end of the world. You can study a little less if it means spending time with your loved ones instead. So my advice would be to try new things and let yourself live a little.

I encourage the student body to step out of their comfort zone. go to a game or event that you wouldn't normally go to. Hang out with the people you wouldn't normally. You never know who will become your best friend. My best friend now is someone that I thought I'd never talk to. You only have a small time in high school so make the most of it. Another thing I encourage is not wasting your time. While it is cliche, time goes by so fast, especially senior year. Soak up the moments you have now because before you know it you're going off to college or doing something else, such as taking a gap year like me. I'm so sad that I never really branched out and became friends with more people in the short time that I had because there are so many people who I'd love to be friends with now.

We weren't able to fit Fabulous Friday into the busy Spring calendar this year, but it was definitely a student favorite event last year. If you could pick a time when we could throw in a day of games, fun, and just taking a break from the regular school schedule, when would you want it to be?
