This month Pennsylvania is leading the way in innovation, community revitalization, housing advancements, and winter tourism.

Backed by a $4.6 million state investment, PMF Industries is poised to enter the clean hydrogen market, contributing to the Commonwealth’s growing clean energy sector. REV Copack announced plans to double manufacturing by scaling up their beverage packaging operations supported by $1.5 million in state funding. The Shapiro Administration also invested in Italy-based Il Pastaio’s project to open their first U.S. manufacturing facility, beating out New York and New Jersey for the $12.5 million project.

Meanwhile, Aurora, Continental, and NVIDIA unveiled a groundbreaking strategy to deploy driverless trucks at scale, positioning Pennsylvania as a leader in autonomous transportation. Adding to the momentum, Steelite International broke ground on a state-of-the-art distribution center, expanding its Pennsylvania operations to serve the global hospitality industry.

Investments in community development continue to create vibrant, resilient neighborhoods. In December, Erie and Reading received designated Community Revitalization Improvement Zones, which will generate dedicated revenues to fund revitalization projects. Pittston is also benefiting from $3 million in state funding to support local development, enhancing its appeal to residents, visitors, and businesses.

The Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) continues to deliver on its promise of supporting impactful projects. With a recent $34.3 million round of funding, 218 projects received critical support, including A Gift of Smiles, a clinic providing free dental care to low-income residents with disabilities. 

Addressing housing challenges remains a top priority. The Shapiro Administration is making significant strides toward Pennsylvania’s first comprehensive Housing Action Plan, informed by public feedback and roundtable discussions with stakeholders across the state. This collaborative approach ensures the plan addresses the unique needs of Pennsylvania’s communities.

This month, more than $5.5 million in Emergency Solutions Grants were distributed to municipalities and nonprofits. These funds are being used to help families experiencing homelessness secure safe, affordable housing and access support services. These efforts are part of a larger commitment to ensuring that every Pennsylvanian has a place to call home.

This winter, Pennsylvania invites residents and visitors to enjoy our many seasonal attractions. The Pennsylvania Tourism Office launched the Best Winter Ever campaign, highlighting activities across the state. Bunny Hill Weekends encourage families and beginners to try skiing and snowboarding at participating PA ski resorts.  

Pennsylvania’s appeal as a family-friendly destination continues to grow. Consumer Affairs recently named Pennsylvania as one of the top three states to raise a family in 2025, citing strengths in education, public safety, and healthcare. Whether you’re looking for winter sports or quality of life, the Commonwealth is the place to be this season.
