Back to School Bash

This Saturday, August 17 (formerly "So Long Summer" event) -- 6 to 10 P.M., behind the church

Don't miss out on our annual end-of-summer celebration! Join us for an evening filled with delicious food, lively music, fun children's games, and the chance to socialize with fellow parishioners. 

Cost is $5 for individual and $25 for family. Admission includes cheeseburgers or hot dogs, soda, water, and various kid games.

A DJ will be providing music, along with a special appearance by SVdP alum, Leena Isle.

UNIFORM REMINDER

School Uniforms

Parents, we ask you to help monitor the uniform dress code. One are of concern in the past has been the length of skirts/skorts, which are to be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Uniform guidelines will be enforced, and extra uniforms will be available for students not in compliance.

For questions regarding uniforms and dress code, please refer to the Family Handbook that can be found on the school website. Just a reminder that students are to be in uniform at all times on campus and when attending school-sponsored functions off campus during the day.

Reminders about dismissal

So far dismissal has been great, just a quick reminder about parking lot assignments. We ask that parents please park in their assigned lot at dismissal. If the lot to which you are currently assigned is not the most convenient, please contact Courtney Eden at edenc@svdpomaha.org to get that changed. Please remember that Eagle Run Drive is NOT an approved parking area at dismissal, and we ask that you not park there. It causes increased congestion as cars are attempting to exit the lot. If you are assigned the “far west lot,” please exit in the right lane and head west on Eagle Run Drive. Do not attempt to cross over into the left lane. Please see page 16 of the the family handbook, which states,

Please enter and exit only from the west entrance of the parking lot if you are assigned to the west side; please enter and exit only from the east entrance of the parking lot if you are assigned to the east side. Cars should be in their assigned areas no later than 3:10 P.M. Parents arriving late should not pull into the circular drive directly in front of school. Parking on the side streets is not allowed.

Cars exiting the lot to the east will be expected to turn left on Eagle Run Drive and head east. There will be TWO EXIT LANES FROM THE WEST SIDE OF THE PARKING LOT. The right lane should be used by drivers who will be turning right onto 144th Street. The middle lane should be used by drivers turning left onto 144th Street or going straight across 144th Street. Cars exiting from the west exit SHOULD NOT proceed east (NO left turn onto Eagle Run Drive).

Star Testing – Fall 2024

Starting on Monday, August 19, Star testing for Reading and Math will begin for grades K-8. The testing window will be open from August 19 to September 3. Please do your best to avoid your child(ren) being absent, as there are no retakes for this test. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr. Horner or Mrs. Skudlarek.

Curriculum Nights Grades K-8

Curriculum Night for grades 5-8 is Tuesday, August 20 and for grades K-4 on Thursday, August 22. Teachers will explain curriculum, policies and procedures, and answer your questions.

We are offering two 30-minute sessions each night, so parents can attend two grade levels. Session times are 6:30-7:00 P.M. and 7:15-7:45 P.M. Please enter through the front doors of the school.

St. Vincent de Paul is currently looking for after school care employees. The hours for this part-time position would be Monday through Friday from 2:45 P.M.—6 P.M. during the school year August-May. Opening in the SVdP child care. This is the perfect part-time job for a parent who has children in our school! The position will follow the school calendar. A background check and Safe Environment training are required. Hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and Tuesday & Thursday 7:30 A.M. to 1 P.M. We are hiring in our school cafeteria.

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic elementary school kitchen is accepting applications for a full-time position. Help put smiles on students’ faces by preparing fresh cooked meals daily! Looking for a “self-starter” whose duties include prepping and serving meals, running the Point of Sale program, cleaning up and assisting in the kitchen as needed. It is a fast-paced environment with some heavy lifting involved. Work hours follow the school calendar. The hours are M-F 7:30 A.M. to 2 P.M. on all days that school lunch is served. CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD- Registration for 2024-2025 NOW OPEN FOR REGISTERED PARISHIONERS!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based religious formation approach for children. A child must be 3 years of age by September 1 to register. Three sessions are offered. Please register for one: Wednesday, 4:15 P.M.-5:30 P.M., Thursday, 9:00 A.M.-10:30 A.M.. or Friday, 8:45 A.M.-10:15 A.M. Space is limited, registrations taken until we are at capacity.
