The UW-Whitewater men’s basketball team clinched the 2025-26 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title on Saturday, Feb. 21, with an 69-62 victory against UW-River Falls. It’s the team’s first league regular season championship since 2015.

| March 3: Celebrate Women’s and Gender Studies

Join us in celebrating 50+ years of Women’s and Gender Studies at UW-Whitewater with Making Self Love Radical, a conversation with author, activist, and spoken word artist Sonya Renee Taylor, founder of “The Body Is Not an Apology.” The event takes place Tuesday, March 3, at 5 p.m. in the Old Main Ballroom (UC 275). Refreshments provided, with closed captioning available.

The UW-Whitewater International Student Association will host the annual International Dinner on Friday, March 6, at 6 p.m. The menu includes dishes from all over the world, and the post-dinner event includes a cultural showcase of songs, dancing, and music. Celebrate culture and friendship with Warhawks from all over the globe.

Theatre/dance presents “The Prom”

A total of 58 UW-Whitewater students are part of the university's production of "The Prom," which will be performed this Tuesday-Sunday, Feb. 24-28, at Barnett Theatre inside the Greenhill Center of the Arts.

Noah Moris named Academic All-American
|
Noah Moris, an accounting major from Union Grove and defensive lineman for the Warhawk football team, was named to the 2025 Academic All-American Second Team by the College Sports Communicators.

Warhawks earn All-Academic Awards from esports conference
|
Five students who are members of the UW-Whitewater esports team earned All-Academic Awards from the Wisconsin Esports Conference.

Kudos to Rex Hanger, professor of geology, who was elected Chair for 2026 of the History, Philosophy & Geoheritage Division of the Geological Society of America. The HPG Division, with more than 450 members, explores the historical roots, impact and ethics of the geosciences to address geoheritage preservation, environmental sustainability and the significance of the social context of geology.
Kudos to Rocio Duchesne-Onoro, associate professor of geography and geology, whose article, “Spectral Characterization of Nine Urban Tree Species in Southern Wisconsin,” was published in the journal Remote Sensing. Two UW-Whitewater alums who were involved with the project as students — Alex Krebs ’22 (B.S., environmental science) and Madelyn Seuser ’22 (B.S., environmental science; MBA ’24) — are co-authors on the paper. 2022 video feature »

UW-Whitewater’s 2026 Schuh Visiting Artist, Fei Jun, was featured in the Milton Courier. Jun’s work will be on display in the Greenhill Center of the Arts Feb. 23-March 19, including an artist talk and reception on March 5.
