Here we are, at the end of another academic year. It seems they are passing more quickly every year! I want to take a moment to celebrate you, the one who your Spartan looks to for support and guidance. Watching our kids grow into emerging adults is not for the faint of heart. So, no matter what stage we’re in, from planning a high school graduation or welcoming a returning first-year student home to cheering for our newly graduated MSU alum, take a moment to savor it!
Remember that we are here for you year-round, so even though spring semester is ending, we will be here all summer (though taking some time to recharge now and again) planning for fall. If you have a question or concern, or just need someone to remind you that your student’s growing pains are temporary, we’re here for you. We can’t wait to see you in August, but until then, keep up with us over the summer through these newsletters or on Facebook.
Take care,
Laurin

Dining During Passover
MSU Culinary Services will be serving kosher meals for Passover from sundown Monday, April 22 through the evening of Tuesday, April 30 at Brody Square, The Gallery at Snyder/Phillips, The Edge at Akers, and South Pointe at Case. The meals will be served during lunch and dinner, while quantities last. Sparty’s mini-market locations, Sparty’s Market at 1855 Place, and grab-and-go locations will offer a variety of retail items from Woody’s Oasis.
To accommodate kosher rules, all foods served will be prepared in a kosher-certified kitchen in East Lansing, certified by Kosher Michigan. In addition, all-you-care-to-eat dining halls will offer pre-packaged kosher items, including canned tuna, matzo crackers, sliced cheese and sliced meats. Individual location hours can be found here and menus can be found here.

Finals
Spring 2024 final exams are April 22-26. Students may feel even more stress than they did for fall finals, as all their extracurricular group activities are also coming to an end for the year. There will be final projects, papers and exams, along with final group activities, award ceremonies and recognitions, and in many cases, packing up residence hall or sorority/fraternity rooms and apartments. You may find that your student could use some additional support. Remind them that CAPS services are still available, along with destress programs and meditation spaces across campus. MSU Department of Police and Public Safety is hosting Midnight Study Break April 22, from 10:30 p.m.-1 a.m., at the STEM Teaching and Learning Building, with music, therapy dogs, games, food and giveaways.

FAFSA Update
We know this year's FAFSA process has been a challenge. MSU is receiving FAFSA data from the U.S. Department of Education and is working with its financial aid software provider to test our system so we can begin the process of creating student financial aid award packages. We expect to have award packages available in the student portal in early May. For the latest FAFSA and award package updates, visit finaid.msu.edu/fafsa2024.

MSU Department of Police and Public Safety Update
Students are encouraged to take the recently released active violence incident training. We understand this training may be difficult for some to complete following the violence our community experienced. Keeping this in mind, students are encouraged to complete it on their own time, at the time that works best for them. Learn more here.
