The LIVE Students’ Half-baked Forum is a monthly student-led event that serves as a space for students across campus to share their work-in-progress, engage in interdisciplinary conversation, and initiate collaborations to advance research at the intersection of education and technology.

How does Individualized Reading Experience Shape Language Processing?

 

Every time we read, we unconsiously collect statistical informaltion about language, building a reference system for the statistical distribution of words, sentences and more. The internet, with no barrier to entry, provides a wide variety of reading material, ranging from international news webpages to informal discussion forums, the latter in which grammer rules and linguistic norms are thrown out the window. Given every person's individualized reading experiene, how is statistical information used to share how we process and understand language?

LIVE Spark Research Grants stimulate applied exploration of novel learning technology ideas and directions with strong potential for impact in formal, informal, or workplace learning contexts. We encourage proposals that include novel applications of emerging learning technologies and particularly those that explore the use of AI and analytics to improve learning and/or training. 

Spark Research Grants provide financial support as well as generous in-kind resources. Proposal budgets will be carefully evaluated with priority given to those that are well-justified and clearly support project's goals.

The 2025 Play Make Learn Conference is now accepting presentation proposals. This dynamic event brings together educators, designers, developers, innovators, librarians, museum professionals, makers, and researchers to explore and advance the design, research, and practice of playful learning. With a focus on games for learning, positive social impact, makerspaces, STEAM education, and the arts, PML fosters collaboration, discovery, and inspiration. Join a vibrant community to tinker, share knowledge, and celebrate innovative work in education and beyond.
