Gobble Gobble

Turkey Day always brings out smiles. WE are thankful to have a great Nutrition Services Division that prepares a wonderful feast for every school to enjoy!

Always Thankful

The annual Thanksgiving luncheon at Leach is something everyone looks forward to because it is a time to give thanks to the students, staff, and families just for being who they are. Volunteers from the Administration Building always enjoy serving the delicious food lovingly prepared by our Nutrition Services workers. School board member Robin Crossan, a former teacher at Leach (top right, black jacket), joins in on the fun every year.

Let's Talk & Let's Give Back

The Equity Series traveled to the Rt. 9 Library where designated families were thankful to receive free turkeys with all the fixings. More than 100 dinner bags were handed out to community members thanks to Colonial employees who donated the items. The featured speaker was Delaware screenwriter, producer, and actor Ayanna Barnes (bottom left) who led a thought-provoking discussion about her short film Silence is Betrayal.

Meals on Wheels

Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Menzer and his admin team hit the streets to deliver food around the district. Volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program is a weekly affair because WE care about food insecurity in our community.

The Tooth Fairy Wears a Badge

When Pleasantville Constable Fred Filippone spotted a child on his surveillance monitor frantically running down a hallway he immediately wondered if something was wrong. It was,  kindergarten student Tristan Joyner lost a tooth...twice! After her loose tooth fell out, an excited Tristan ran down the hallway to show it to the school nurse when she dropped her treasured tooth somewhere...but where?  No worries, Constable Fred put his former police skills to work. He retraced the youngster's steps on video and then called on a custodian to sweep the hallway where he suspected the tooth had dropped. The mystery was solved and Tristan was reunited with her tooth thanks to a school constable turned tooth fairy who will do anything to help a child!

He's a Winner!

Say congrats to Cameron Duker. This 2nd-grade student from Wilmington Manor won 1st place in a fire prevention poster contest and will now advance to the state level to compete. His teacher, Ms. Bree Williams, is so proud of him and so is everyone else in Colonial Nation!

A Veterans Day Salute

Eisenberg Elementary School continued a longstanding tradition of hosting a Veterans Day program. Students with family members who are vets invited them to breakfast which was followed by a flag-waving parade through the hallway leading to the auditorium. Once there, the vets were treated to a special program that included patriotic songs. It was a proud day for the veterans and Berg Nation.
