| NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL
After Easter, 8th Graders explored kinetic and potential energy changes and how they can be converted.
In the spirit of Pope Francis' Laudato Si, OLV welcomed nine new trees to the MacArthur Blvd hillside planted by Casey Trees Urban Foresters. They are native species, including a willow oak dedicated to the 175th Anniversary of the founding of the school by the Sisters of Notre Dame. Sr. Mary Frances Tymans visited the OLV students and reflected on the tree-themed prayer service from Catholic Schools Week. Additionally, we concluded National Poetry Month with students sharing original poems, as well as new found favorites.
Mrs. Katie Sague, our vice-principal, received the Sisters of Notre Dame Gospel Witness Award. This national recognition is given in honor of witnessing Jesus' spirit of compassion, hope, and joy by nurturing the SND charism, spirit, and mission in the community. Katie is a truly deserving person, and OLV is very proud!
To practice writing directions in order, Kindergarten students made a classic fresh-squeezed citrus beverage, talked about the importance of sequencing, and wrote down the steps in order.
Our 2nd Graders recently received the Sacrament of First Communion. It was a beautiful day!
Our 3rd Graders had a mid-week minute to share some joy when students created parachutes. Our 5th Graders celebrated Cinco de Mayo and explored the phases of the moon.
We all wished Fr. Andy a Happy 60th Birthday!
We celebrated our three top finishers in the Catholic Math League. Every team did well in the Mid-Atlantic Division, and our 4th Grade team was kept from the top spot by a mere three points!
Early Childhood students enjoyed Splash Day, while 1st and 2nd Graders enjoyed a day at the Gulf Branch Nature Center where they learned about the local ecosystem.
Students were excited to learn all about the Conclave and celebrate the election of our new Pope! May God bless Pope Leo XIV, today and always.
Thank you to the Most Reverend Menjivar and Fr. Andy for a beautiful Confirmation Mass for our 7th and 8th Graders.
Arts Night celebrated the fine and performing arts!
All grades participated in a fabulous Field Day! Great teamwork and sportsmanship were displayed throughout the day.
We prayed the rosary daily, and Early Childhood hosted a May Crowning for their moms and special friends.

| PARKING: FRIDAY, MAY 30TH
Friendly reminder: On Friday, May 30th we will celebrate the graduation of our 8th Graders. Please bear in mind that the families of our 8th Grade class and their guests will need to park in the lot for Mass and Commencement Exercises.
If you have an older student (3rd Grade and above), please consider dropping off your child in the lot rather than using a parking space. This will help to ensure that there are spaces for families with the youngest children and those arriving for Graduation.
Free morning Care opens at 7:30 a.m. if you would like to drop your child at school a few minutes early.
We appreciate your understanding and kindly ask you to plan accordingly, give yourself a few extra minutes for arrival, and be patient with yourself and others on Friday.
