2025 AI Research Mixer

Thank you to all who joined our 2025 AI Research Mixer, co-hosted by the ASSET Center for Trustworthy AI, IDEAS (Innovation in Data Engineering and Science), the Warren Center for Network & Data Sciences, DDDI (Data Driven Discovery Initiative) and Penn AI! We had thirteen great faculty talks, over 30 student/postdoc posters, and Jenn Wortman Vaughan (GEng’06, Gr’09), Senior Principal Research Manager at Microsoft Research, delivered the keynote on generative AI.

Good Conversations Don’t Require Everybody to Agree, Neuroscience Shows

In recent years, neuroscientists have identified an important phenomenon: brain synchrony, in which brain activation in two or more people increases and decreases in similar regions at similar times. Brain imaging is illuminating the patterns linked to productive, positive dialogue, and those insights could help people connect with others, writes Emily Falk for Scientific American.
