Web Matters: A newsletter for OHIO Web Managers at Ohio University

Take Action

OIT Terms: Audit

In last month’s Web Matters newsletter, we included a list of OIT tools that are being retired. Please review the spreadsheet OIT Learning SFC results.xlsx and correct any references found on your webpages by August 7. After this date, the UCM web team will simply delete references. Note there are 4 different tabs on the spreadsheet, which reference each retiring tool. Please highlight the row in green once you've updated/removed the reference, to mark it complete.

Accreditation Language

Per the Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics office, OHIO must now use the phrase "institutionally accredited" or "institutional accreditation" instead of "regionally accredited" or "regional accreditation." The UCM web team has already updated all instances of the "regional" language throughout ohio.edu webpages, so be sure to use the "institutional" language on future web updates.

Page Archiving

Please notify the UCM Web Team whenever you need to archive or unarchive a page. We may need to create, update, or remove a URL redirect so that the correct content displays for a user. Use the UCM Request form and choose: ”Specific marketing service” > “web” > "Text edits, photo changes, or other simple changes to existing pages.”

Newly Launched Websites

New Directory Website

The new Directory website — featuring centralized, redesigned profiles — is live.

We ask that you please review your website’s employee listings for accuracy and if you find any profiles that need added/removed, reach out to webcontent@ohio.edu.

The UCM web team is developing training materials and will maintain the editing freeze on profiles until mid-August when we will provide another update for website editors/publishers about training and access. If any content updates need made in the meantime, please continue to submit updates through our profile update request form.

As a reminder, faculty and staff who have shared their profile on business cards or other materials may submit a redirect request to send their old URL to their new directory site URL. To avoid broken links, by default, previous profile URLs now redirect to www.ohio.edu/directory unless an individual redirect request has been submitted. The UCM web team will be going through any remaining links throughout ohio.edu pointing to old profiles, updating them to their new URLs.

New OHIO Brand Website

Last week, UCM published a new website about Ohio University's brand, including resources and guidelines, downloads and more! This website is designed to help our faculty, staff and stakeholders share our dynamic and ever-evolving University story with the world. Take a look through the site and learn about our brand: OHIO Brand.

New Jump Links Element

The UCM Web Team has developed a new element that allows you to create styled jumps links to content on the same page. This can be useful when a webpage is long and jumping to a specific section lower on the page is helpful for users.
