Get ready to see—and hear—films in a whole new way.
GSFF 2026 is pushing boundaries with innovative programming designed to ensure everyone can experience the power of storytelling. From the return of Cinema for the Ears to accessible film blocks, this year’s lineup celebrates inclusivity both on screen and behind the scenes.

“At the Garden State Film Festival, accessibility isn’t an add-on—it’s at the heart of who we are,” says Lauren Concar Sheehy, Executive Director of the Garden State Film Festival. “With ‘Cinema for the Ears,’ we’re not just opening doors, we’re redefining how stories are experienced. Whether you’re a lifelong film lover, someone with low or no vision, or simply curious about a new way to engage with storytelling, this is cinema without limits. And when you bring over 200 films, thousands of visitors, and a global creative community into Asbury Park and Cranford, the impact goes far beyond the screen—we’re driving tourism, supporting local businesses, and proving that the arts are a powerful economic engine for New Jersey.”

In addition to Cinema for the Ears, GSFF offers a wide range of accessibility features, including subtitled screenings and fully wheelchair-accessible venues, reinforcing its commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive festival experience for all.
This commitment has been formally recognized by the Cultural Access Network (CAN), a project of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, which honored the Garden State Film Festival with its 2024 Leadership Award for advancing accessibility, equality, and opportunity for individuals with disabilities in the arts.

“Cinema for the Ears is about more than accessibility—it’s about immersion, imagination, and belonging,” says Stephanie Clineman, ADA Chair of the Garden State Film Festival. “Through rich audio description and storytelling, audiences aren’t just following along—they’re experiencing the film in a deeply personal way. Our goal is simple: everyone deserves to be part of the story. And when accessibility is done right, it doesn’t just include more people—it elevates the experience for everyone in the room.”

A Musical Storybook: “Top of the Mountain”
A Musical Storybook is a hybrid film short combining spoken word, original music, visual art, and an author’s note to introduce a larger multimedia narrative about transformation and creative rebirth. “Top of the Mountain” serves as an introduction to the first chapter — a lyrical ascent toward healing and renewal, featuring film imagery by Danny Sanchez, illustrations and editing by Yuliya Kashapova, songwriting by Billboard-charting Patti Maloney and Billboard-charting artist Ray Andersen. Additional instrumental played and music co- production by Dove Award-winning producer Plink Giglio.
- The All-American Ruins Podcast: Someone Lives Here
“Abandoned” doesn’t always mean “empty,” and in one particular vacant mini-mansion in Merida, Mexico, that is precisely the case. Continuing on his international circuit, join Blake Pfeil as he spins an imaginary folk tale about the people who used to live in this house, while wandering its halls and reflecting on family, poetry, and gun violence.
