Hall Writes Chapter on Talent and AI |
Dr. Holly Hall, professor of strategic communication, has written a chapter for the forthcoming Routledge book, “Talent Acquisition and AI: Enhancing Workforce Engagement,” edited by Stephanie A. Smith. Hall’s chapter, “Building Ethical AI Governance Frameworks,” examines emerging best practices for guiding the responsible use of artificial intelligence in organizations, particularly in human resources. The book, to be published in May, explores how AI is transforming recruitment, workforce engagement, and talent management.

Sullivan’s Research is in Choral Journal |
Research co-authored by Dr. Kristen Sullivan, instructor in voice and music theatre, was recently published in the American Choral Director Association's International Journal of Research in Choral Singing. She studied the impacts of choral ensembles’ sound energy levels on the directors. Sullivan also presented a lecture recital, “Sounding Tenderness: The Voice of Gwenyth Walker's ‘La Ternura’ " and presented a paper at the annual Music by Women Festival.

Desai has Best Paper, Bloomberg Interview |
A paper by Dr. Hrishikesh Desai, associate professor of accounting, titled “How Digitalization Shapes Tasks, Tools, and Behavior in Management Control" won the Best Paper Award in the accounting and finance section of the Academy of Business Research Conference. Also, Desai was interviewed by Bloomberg News about how AI is revamping Big4 firm offerings. He explained how leading with managed services and tucking in other types of advisory work provides a more resilient business model.

Dr. Amy Shollenbarger (left), professor and chair, and Emily Weston, (right), assistant professor, communication disorders, along with Gisele Narcum, recent MCD graduate, presented research at the Arkansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention. They discussed the results of their mixed-methods study of 365 SLPs across 36 states, examining their experiences in early intervention. Reduced family engagement and limited confidence in parent coaching emerged as key barriers, highlighting a need for stronger pre-service training and more education about family-centered services and parent coaching.

MacFarlane and Spiegel Present Nationally |
Dr. Bronwyn MacFarlane, professor of educational leadership, presented a national webinar with a recent doctoral degree recipient, Dr. Gregory Spiegel, for the National Association for Gifted Children. Their invited talk focused on how STEM competitions can serve as powerful learning ecosystems through which gifted learners build creativity, collaboration, resilience and deep content knowledge. Their session also explored how educators and parents can use competitions to support talent development and spark innovation.
