DanceScapes returns this weekend

Get ready to be thrilled by DanceScapes ‘24 this Saturday, March 16, through Tuesday, March 19, in Young Auditorium. This year’s production, directed by Barbara Grubel, professor of theatre/dance, includes a variety of original dance pieces choreographed by students, faculty and this year’s guest artist, Pate Nassalang.

Men’s track and field fourth at NCAA Indoor Championships

Led by national championship performances from Shelvin Garrett II and Christian Patzka, the Warhawk men’s track and field team finished fourth at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was the program’s first top-four finish at the national meet since 2017.

Kudos to Melanie Thiede, an international business and Spanish major from Sherwood, and Jodi Simek, international education manager, who presented “Using your LMS (learning management system) for an international student audience” at the 2024 International Office Conference. Read more »

Kudos to Abi Brandt, a theatre major from Fremont, Makayla Fedler, a theatre major from Salem, and Genevieve Paur, a music major from Delavan, for being recognized for their outstanding work in UW-Whitewater’s production of “Pal Joey.” Brandt earned a Certificate of Merit in Stage Management, and Felder and Paur were each nominated for the Irene Ryan Scholarship Award. All three will be recognized at the next regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Read more »

Provost John Chenoweth is pleased to announce the hiring of David Welsch as director of the University Honors program. Welsch, a professor of economics, will begin his new role in May 2024. The provost thanks outgoing director Tanya Kam, professor of literature, writing and film, for her years of service.

General education coordinator named

Provost John Chenoweth is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeffrey Zimmerman as general education coordinator, effective August 2024. Zimmerman is an associate professor of geography, geology and environmental science. The provost thanks outgoing coordinator Jessica Bonjour, associate professor of chemistry, for her years of service.
