Campus is participating in “The Great California Shake Out,” a statewide earthquake awareness and preparedness event Thursday, Oct. 16th at 10:16am. At that time, the Sacramento State Police Department will send out a non-emergency test message from the campus Emergency Notification System. Federal, state, and local emergency management experts and other official preparedness organizations all agree that "Drop, Cover and Hold On" is the appropriate action to reduce injury and death during earthquakes. The Great California Shake Out is our opportunity to practice how to protect ourselves during earthquakes. What to do - and what not to do: https://www.shakeout.org/california/dropcoverholdon/.
The test will include alerts by text message, email, phone call, campus digital signs, and on some University-owned computers, as well as social media.
Students are already signed up to receive Emergency Notification System (ENS) messages on their cellphones and via email and should use this test to confirm that their devices are registered correctly. Faculty and staff must register for ENS messages at Emergency Notification System (ENS) | Sacramento State (csus.edu) if they have not done so previously to receive cell phone alerts. You can also find more information about the ENS system at this link.
