December 2025

Dear colleagues,

As we close out another busy semester and look ahead to the new year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone across the Division of Administration. Your energy and dedication to serving the Vanderbilt community have made this a remarkable season.

I want to take a moment to share some highlights from this semester, and reflect on what we’ve accomplished together:

  • Mail Services received and handed out 109,208 packages.
  • Campus Dining served 1.3 million meals for students, faculty, and staff. Of these, 1,369 were custom-prepared allergy-friendly meals for students with severe dietary intolerances or allergies.
  • Parking and Transportation enrolled nearly 30% of campus in the QuickTicket program, allowing free use of WeGo transportation.
  • Construction and restoration work on our New York City campus began this week, capping a semester of tremendous activity and community engagement – with standing room-only crowds at our inaugural Vanderbilt in the City lecture events.
  • The Student Access team proctored 4,262 exams in our testing center.
  • Printing Services produced 2,133 custom print orders for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Dialogue Vanderbilt continued to build a campus culture of free expression, with nearly 600 students participating in Dialogue Vanderbilt Habit workshops, and over 3,000 total attendees at Dialogue Vanderbilt events.
  • Public Safety made solid progress in improving our safety and security posture, with the completion of an expanded Emergency Operations Plan, a successful tabletop emergency preparedness exercise earlier this month, and most significantly, the successful launch of comprehensive Active Assailant training and resources. More than 40% of staff have completed the online Active Assailant course.

Of course, this list only begins to capture the impact of your work. Every area across the division demonstrated meaningful progress this semester, and together these efforts reflect our shared commitment to collaboration, service, and institutional excellence. I am deeply grateful for all that you do.

Looking forward to 2026, I am filled with optimism. Our division has laid strong foundations this semester - in campus services, in dialogue and community, in growth and outreach, and in safety. I believe deeply that by continuing to work together, we’ll carry this momentum into the new year, building on our successes and rising to new challenges with creativity, compassion, and resolve.

Thank you for all you do. Your contributions matter, and they make Vanderbilt a stronger and more vibrant place for everyone. I hope you can take time this break to rest, reflect, and recharge.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season,

Darren Reisberg

Vice Chancellor for Administration

A special note from Vice Chancellor Savion

From Sydney Savion, vice chancellor for people, culture and belonging at Vanderbilt University:

“Chef Cochrane, thank you so much for hosting me and for the heart you bring to our culture every day. The experience was as electrifying as Pavia on game day! ⚓️👇"
