As August unfolds and many of us begin returning to classrooms, schools, commitments, projects, and new rhythms, we’re wishing everyone across the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project community a meaningful start to the school year. 

We also hope you’ll continue bringing what you’ve been reading, writing, noticing, and gathering into our shared community. If you came across a piece of writing, a resource, an invitation, or something else over the summer that you think might nourish another teacher or writer, please add it to our WPWP Padlet here or via the button below. Let’s keep building a space where we can share what is sustaining, challenging, and inspiring us. 

Our next WPWP Network Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 9, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. via Zoom. 

This is a chance for WPWP Fellows to reconnect after the summer, hear updates from across the network, write together, and look ahead to the year.

We hope you’ll join us.

We’re also excited to share our 2026–2027 WPWP Annual Network Calendar. 

This calendar emerged from WPWP Fellows gathering together to think intentionally about how we want to spend our time over the coming school year. It reflects both the work we hope to do together and our desire to create a more accessible rhythm within the Writing Project. 

We know that teachers and educators are already balancing full calendars. We want you to be able to see what is ahead, plan when you can participate, share opportunities with others, and know when there will be space to reconnect with the network. 

The calendar includes network gatherings, writing workshops, retreats, youth programming, regional partnerships, and opportunities to simply write together. Additional partnerships and opportunities may emerge throughout the year, but these dates represent the core rhythm of WPWP for 2026–2027. 

You can view, print, or download the calendar below. The digital version also includes hyperlinks to event information and interest forms as they become available. You can also subscribe to the WPWP Google Calendar here so that dates and updates are easy to keep with you throughout the year. 

And stay tuned: our September newsletter will include a fuller look back at our summer together, including updates and reflections from the Young Writers Institute, Summer Institute, and other summer programming.
