UT Pathways: A Professional-Track Faculty Conference – Waitlist Now Open

The second annual UT Pathways: A Conference for Professional-Track Faculty has reached capacity. UT Pathways brings professional-track faculty together from across campus for interactive discussions on strengthening professional-track careers at UT. Breakout topics include leadership roles, research careers, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and health sciences collaboration. If you’re interested in attending, you can join the waitlist and we will contact you if space becomes available.

"Every Summer Needs a Plan" Workshop
Wednesday, Apr. 29| 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
The provost’s Faculty Affairs team will be sponsoring an all-day, in-person workshop intentionally timed as the spring semester ends and faculty are preparing for the summer. In this interactive workshop faculty will craft a strategic plan outlining professional (and personal) goals for what they hope to accomplish over the summer, and identify types and sources of community, support and accountability that might be needed to meet those goals.

The provost’s Faculty Affairs team will be holding two information sessions focused on the creation of promotion dossiers on Tuesday, May 5. Dossier Prep Sessions are intended for faculty promotion candidates who will be undergoing promotion review in fall 2026. Please note that these sessions are not intended for faculty in Dell Medical School.

FACULTY RESEARCH & GRANT OPPORTUNITIES  

Applications Open for Research Opportunities in the Humanities 
5x5 Incubators (one semester, $2,500)
The 5×5 Incubator Grants encourage interdisciplinary groups of faculty and research specialists to organize around a theme or topic of shared interest, an approach to work in the humanities, an experimental form of dissemination or a common ground for future research explorations. Five faculty will meet five times over a period of a few months. Each group must include a minimum of three tenure-track faculty. This grant is not intended for graduate students. Preference will be given to teams with representatives from at least two departments or schools. The team organizer must be tenure-track faculty. While five is the ideal participant number for each group, the Collaboratory will consider proposals from teams comprising four to six members. $500 will be awarded per team member. Submit your 5x5 Incubator Grant application before the deadline of Friday, Apr. 3.

Research Working Groups (one year, $5,000)
The Humanities Institute invites faculty teams working on collaborative projects in any area of the humanities or humanistic social sciences to apply. Research Working Groups (RWGs) will convene for Summer 2026 – Spring 2027. The group should have at least three faculty members from two or more UT departments. The Humanities Institute will support funding for food, travel, books, supplies, event materials, honoraria and student stipends. Additional funding and support available (in consultation with HI staff) for hosting a visiting speaker. $5,000 will be awarded per team. Apply for the Research Working Groups grant before Friday, Apr. 3.

Humanities Research Awards
The Humanities Research Awards (HRA) are designed for faculty in the College of Liberal Arts who are working on humanities-focused research projects. The Humanities Institute will provide funding and support to enhance the likelihood of successful project outcomes, such as publications, dissemination and engagement. Preference will be given to junior faculty. All awards must be spent within a two-year timeframe (Summer 2026 – Spring 2028). $5,000 will be awarded to each approved project. Apply for the Humanities Research Awards before it closes on Friday, Apr. 3.

Texas Global Spring Grants
Texas Global is accepting proposals through Friday, May 1 for the Global Career Launch program and the President's Award for Global Learning to support faculty-driven internships and global experiential learning. Questions may be directed to txglobal-grants@austin.utexas.edu.

2025–26 Policy and Application  
Eligible faculty may receive up to $1,400 per academic year for travel expenses to support their presenting original papers at scholarly and professional meetings.

Human Resources Launches HR Insights Newsletter
HR Insights will highlight programs and updates related to learning and development, health and wellness, financial resources and benefits — bringing tools and key information together in one place. 
Time Conflict Override Requests
The Time Conflict Override Request allows students to seek approval to register for two classes with overlapping meeting times. Students initiate the request online using a secure Docusign form via Texas One Stop. Once submitted, Docusign routes the request to the instructor for review and electronic signature. Instructors discuss feasibility with the student and sign requests electronically. Same-day approval during registration periods is appreciated. Students are responsible for confirming the class is open, prerequisites are met and credit-hour limits or reserved seat criteria are followed. Canva Campus is Now in Session for UT Austin Faculty and Staff 
Faculty and staff can create professional, accessible and on‑brand content with premium features from Canva. Your Canva license includes access to UT‑approved templates and resources, making it easy to create presentations, course materials, event flyers, social media graphics and other digital or print materials that align with University brand standards. Get started with Canva at UT Austin.  
Anthropic Settlement and Claims Process 
Last fall, the AI research firm Anthropic agreed to a $1.5 billion settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit filed by authors and publishers alleging copyright infringement and improper use of pirated works to train its Claude AI model. As a result, authors and publishers with qualified works may be entitled to a settlement payment for the improper use of their materials. The estimated baseline is approximately $3,000 per work. The claims process  window closes on Monday, Mar. 30. Click Here to learn how to file a claim in the Anthropic Settlment. 
Check Your Course Evaluations
Starting March 31, all faculty can review course evaluations in the online system. If you are expecting an evaluation and you do not receive an email and/or the evaluation is not present in your view of the system, please contact your Course Evaluation Liaison (CEL) immediately. Unsure how to view details for your survey(s)? Check the CES Guide.
FERPA Faculty Training Requirement: Grace Period Ending on April 12
Current faculty and instructors who have yet to complete their assigned FERPA training have a one-time grace period to complete it in UT Learn. This ends on Sunday, Apr. 12. If you have not completed the training by then, you will lose access to certain student information systems (including CLIPS and Advisors’ Toolkit) beginning Monday, Apr.13, until the training requirement is completed. For questions or assistance with the training, email training@compliance.utexas.edu.

UT Austin Empower Your Research Pitch Competition Finale
Wednesday, Apr. 15, | 5 – 8 p.m. | Etter-Harbin Alumni Center 
The UT Austin Graduate School hosts the Empower Your Research Pitch competition finale — where grad students and postdoctoral scholars from across campus showcase their research and creative works in dynamic, three-minute presentations for general audiences. UT Austin faculty and staff members are invited to learn about the exciting research conducted by advanced scholars at the University. The event features finalists competing for one of three $1,000 prizes, judged by government and industry leaders. Heavy appetizers, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks will be served.
