| Teacher of the Month - January 2023In cooperation with the Mayor's office and City Council, the Rotary Club of Okla. City recognizes an outstanding teacher in our community.
Jason Smtih has taught at Crooked Oak High School for the past seven years, where he has developed a classroom in which the students are excited about learning and truly feel that they are valued and cared for.
Jason received his Bachelor of Social Studies-Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and has taught World History, US History, Government, Critical Thinking, Political Science, coached soccer, and continues to be his students biggest supporter and number one champion.
He was the Crooked Oak High School Teacher of the Year for 2015 and 2016.
Jason shares his love of history and learning in such a way that most COHS students will tell you that his class is their favorite. Not only do they learn the material, but Mr. Smith holds the students accountable and to a standard that shows that he believes the best in them and that they can do whatever they set their mind to accomplish.
Jason, in his free time, enjoys reading history books. He maintains strong, positive relationships with the students after they graduate. He cares deeply about all students and wants to not only see them grow in academics but also as contributing members of society.
Congratulations, Jason!

| Rotary Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes Dear Fellow Rotarians,
At the Sept. 27 lunch meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023.
