Making Vegetable Bags

April 3, 4

9:15 – 10:00 a.m.

Westminster Café

Gleaning is the act of collecting leftover crops in the field after harvest. During harvest, there is food that is left or missed often because it does not meet store standards for uniformity. The vegetables aren’t “pretty” enough. Gleaning is used to provide fresh foods to those in need. The vegetables are perfectly fine for consumption and are used by local food banks.
As part of our Hands On Mission Lenten experience, please join us in the Café to make bags for these vegetables.
This is a super easy service project! If you can cut and tie a knot, we need you! We will be preparing bunches of mesh bags for folks who will glean various fields in the area. Come one day or a couple of days!
Please let Beth Drake know if you can participate.
Put those bags to use...
Join us Saturday, April 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as we distribute 40,000 pounds (or 20 tons) of sweet potatoes to our hungry neighbors in Middle Tennessee. Partnering with the Society of St. Andrew, we keep this food from going to waste and share it instead with people in need. Plan to work outdoors: dress for the weather and bring water bottles and sunscreen! We’ll meet in the North Parking Lot.

Earth Day Tree Pickup

Our faith calls us to be caretakers of our planet, and Earth Day reminds us of our commitment to doing so.
In acknowledgement, please, order a tree through Green Interchange and then make plans to pick it up at the WPC North Entrance on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Redbuds and tulip poplars are the choices this year. Even if you don’t want to order one to take home and plant, Green Interchange is a worthwhile organization to support. Please thank Jill Sink for her efforts on our behalf in supporting this great outreach when you see her.
Reserve your trees or make a donation HERE  Specify WPC as the pickup spot. Plant the trees or give them to others to enjoy.
Contact Curtis Baysinger at cbaysinger2@gmail.com for questions.

Lenten Mission Opportunity

In addition to homework help, Bible studies, group games, and career readiness training, the PTM high school program shares a meal during their time together. Volunteers are needed to provide dinners for the students on Mondays (food for 15) and Wednesdays (food for 30).

If you or a group of your friends feel called to serve in this way during this Lenten season, please contact Janet Kuhn (janetkuhn@mac.com) or go to this link to sign up directly: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0D4BADA82CA5F58-50531632-high#/
