Dear Lakers,

As the Campus Health Center in Allendale moves to become self-operated by Grand Valley State University, I wanted to provide you with updates and resources that will ensure you’re up to speed regarding access to the care resources you may need during this transitional period.

The Campus Health Center is closed until the start of the fall semester as we ramp up hiring and refit the center with the equipment, technology and other resources needed to make it an even better resource for student health needs. (This does not affect the University Counseling Center, which remains open throughout the summer, offering mental health services.)

When the new Campus Health Center opens in August, it will offer full-service primary and urgent care provided by GVSU-employed professionals. This new model will provide greater control over the services we offer and better alignment with student and GVSU community needs while improving access and affordability for all students.

We will announce a formal opening date later this summer along with an open house to welcome the community and provide additional information about the services the Campus Health Center will provide.

In the meantime, I’d like to invite you to our Center for Health and Well-Being town hall events on Tuesday, June 17 and Tuesday, July 29. To learn more about these events and RSVP to attend, visit the CHWB town hall website.

For those in need of care during the Campus Health Center's transition, the Center’s website has been updated with a list of local service providers along with more information about our transition to a self-operated model. As always, call 911 or visit a local emergency room if you are in immediate need of urgent care.
