The Trifecta of Perfect Oral Health: Brushing, Flossing, and Checkups!

It’s no secret that 363 days out of the year you’re expected to maintain a dedicated oral care regimen. This includes brushing for two minutes twice a day and flossing regularly.
But even the most stringent routine isn’t complete without professional checkups and cleanings from a dentist and hygienist! Summer is just around the corner, meaning if you visited back in January, you’re likely coming up on your second visit for the year!

The dentists and team members at Pasadena Family Dentistry encourage you to keep the following in mind as you begin making your summer plans:
Brushing and flossing will remove plaque throughout your mouth, but this habit alone isn’t enough to prevent all dental diseases.
One of the reasons routine dental checkups are so vital is because they give our dentists a chance to catch problems that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Furthermore, denser plaque deposits (i.e. tartar) cannot be safely removed at home. Only a trained hygienist can remove them safely from your mouth.
Regular checkups and cleanings not only reduce your risk for dental disease but help you avoid the need for restorative dentistry (i.e. fillings, crowns, etc.) in the future. It also lowers your risk for dental emergencies, something we’re sure you want to avoid during the summer.
