Fellow Rotarians:
Oct. 8, 2024, we announced the OnePledge Committee’s selection of Wings Special Needs Community for the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City’s 2024-2025 project.
Founded in 2002 by six families, Wings offers qualify, affordable educational programs for adults with developmental disabilities. Over the past twenty years, Wings has grown from six clients to serving nearly 100 Day Program members on a five-acre leased campus in Edmond.
After two decades of success, Wings is on the cusp of significant transformation by creating а new 75-acre campus and residential community that will ultimately serve up to 200 day-program members and 120 residents. The new campus will enhance the programs and experiences that inspire, engage, and stimulate members so their lives are further enriched.
One critical element of that is healthy outdoor living as the population they serve, particularly those with Down Syndrome, suffer from Hypotonia, or poor muscle tone. Ensuring access to and enjoyment of physical fitness activities is paramount for а healthy life.
Funds from the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City will be used to create а custom Rotary Bike Barn to house adaptive bikes and other outdoor equipment that their members can enjoy leisurely and use as part of their structured health and wellness program. The Rotary Bike Barn will be close to the Gregory and Sandy Olson Program Center that has just completed construction. Up to 200 members will take classes there, learn, and serve the community daily along with use of the new quarter-mile adaptive walking and biking track.

| Wings of Rotary - 2025 Deadline Dec. 1, 2024
Each summer, District 5750 sends a team of 10th to 12th graders to District 2520 located in the Miyagi and Iwate prefectures in Japan for approximately two weeks. 2025 Wings of Rotary Information
In taking part of WINGS of Rotary, students learn a new way of living, a great deal about themselves, and maybe even a new language. They will be ambassadors, teaching people they meet about their country, culture, and ideas. Help bring the world closer - and make some good friends in the process.
More than 8,000 young people each year have experiences like these through Rotary Youth Exchanges. It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Do you know any students who would be interested? Contact Keith Oehlert, District 5750 Wings Chair Application
