BIPARTISAN GROUP OF SENATORS ISSUES LETTER ON FY 27 NIH FUNDING
A bipartisan group of senators, co‑led by Senators Thom Tillis (R‑NC) and Alex Padilla (D‑CA), submitted a Dear Colleague letter urging appropriators to maintain strong funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in FY 27. The lawmakers emphasized NIH’s role in advancing biomedical research, supporting the scientific workforce and sustaining U.S. leadership in medical innovation and national security:
“Sustained and predictable investment in the NIH is essential not only to supporting America’s current scientific workforce, but also to building the next generation of researchers, clinicians, and innovators."
The letter calls for continued bipartisan support as Congress begins work on the FY 2027 Labor‑HHS‑Education appropriations bill.
