Holly Williams (’21 MEd) returned to the UTA community in 2023 and began her role as a student services coordinator in the Office of Academic Engagement. In addition to marketing, recruiting, and planning programs for Residential Learning Communities for first-year students, Williams also teaches a freshman success seminar.
An appreciation for teaching was instilled in Williams from an early age. Her family’s passion for working in education extends two generations. “My mom was a teacher and elementary school counselor, and my grandmother worked in a school as well,” Williams says. “I love teaching. I love impacting students in their learning, and I love to see their growth throughout the semester.”
Her initial freshman success seminar taught students about academic preparedness, growth mindset, and career development. She has since participated in the Center for Service Learning’s Faculty Fellows program, in which she spent a semester learning how to create an enriching learning experience that builds scholarship through community engagement. This semester, she is utilizing the knowledge she gained in the program to teach a UNIV 1131 course based in service learning.
“Service has always been a part of who I am. I’ve always been the type of person who enjoys giving back to the community," Williams says. "Sharing that joy with students and seeing them create projects centered on service has been very meaningful."
