UTA named a top college for Indigenous students
|
For the sixth consecutive year, Winds of Change magazine has recognized UTA as one of the top 200 colleges for Indigenous students. The magazine lists colleges where Indigenous students are going to school in significant numbers and where the community, Native programs, and support are strong enough for these students to enjoy college and persist to graduation.

In the latest episode of Behind The Scrubs, an original podcast series produced by UTA’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation, hosts Aspen Drude and Jeffrey Taylor welcomed Ziyad Ben Taleb. The three discussed Dr. Taleb's public health journey; his research on smoking, creating and managing UTA's Eliminate Tobacco event; and his advocacy for policy change.

Outside activity reporting
|
UTA’s Compliance, Accountability, Risk, and Ethics Committee would like to remind all employees of their ongoing obligation to report whether they have any outside activity or other potential conflicts of interest or commitment in the Outside Activity Portal. Employees must make reports at least annually or when there is a reportable change to their outside interests. Additional details about employee responsibilities can be found in the Conflicts of Interest, Conflicts of Commitment, and Outside Activities Policy (EI-PO-02).

UTA Climate Action Plan Kickoff

The Office of Sustainability is initiating its Climate Action Plan, a significant step toward addressing the pressing issues of climate change and sustainability. Organizers will outline goals, strategies, and collaborative efforts to combat climate change at the UTA Climate Action Plan Kickoff, set for Monday, Jan. 22, 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Rio Grande Ballroom of the University Center. RSVP for the event, which is open to UTA employees and students. Your presence at the kickoff meeting will contribute to the dialogue and foster collaboration among key stakeholders.

Editors and reviewers of the peer-reviewed journal Green Chemistry have highlighted a UTA study as one of its “hot” articles for 2023. The research investigates how to make common chemical techniques more environmentally friendly.

Exclusive agreement with Pepsi
|
As a reminder, the University has an exclusive agreement with PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) for the sale and distribution of beverages, including bottled water, at UTA facilities and events. It is a violation of this exclusive agreement to expend University funds on beverage products other than those available through Pepsi or to have any such products provided at University-sponsored events. The only exceptions are- University athletic events (including esports) not held on campus and involving co-sponsorship by other organizations or business entities, College Park District restaurants, and private events held on campus in which a third party provides the University compensation for use of a facility.
