|
An annual campus-wide Thanksgiving feast brought together more than 1,000 UTA students, faculty, and staff, who shared a meal and gratitude with their fellow Mavericks.

CAPPA class builds homes for older residents

A UTA design/build class will help build four houses in east Arlington that will be available for lease to seniors. The project will allow students to combine what they have learned in the classroom with practical, on-the-job experience in designing and building.

| National AIDS Memorial partners with UTA Libraries
|
A portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be displayed on the sixth floor of UTA Central Library as part of a special exhibit beginning tomorrow, Tuesday Nov. 28. To commemorate the opening day of the exhibit, UTA Libraries will host a special event from noon to 2 p.m. University offices and local organizations will have tables set up to provide information about LBGTQ+ history and resources about HIV and AIDS.

UTA is holding a second flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinic for employees, retirees, and their covered dependents Wednesday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Room 113 of Trinity Hall. About 100 slots are available. Register. The latest COVID-19 booster will be available while supplies last.

The Department of Art and Art History is pleased to announce its Holiday Glass Art Sale and Fundraiser. Faculty, staff, and students can be among the first to explore and purchase pieces Friday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The general public sale will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sale funds support UTA’s talented students, while also contributing to the advancement of the Department of Art and Art History.

Congratulations to the UTA Police Department
|
The UTA Police Department has received its sixth Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Award, and for the first time in the department’s history, it has achieved the CALEA Accreditation with Excellence Award. To earn the award, the UTA Police Department had to meet all of the eligibility criteria and submit an application describing how its business model promotes progressive community engagement strategies, uses data as a tool for management decisions, repeatedly uses the accreditation model for outcomes management, and fills a leadership role among peer agencies.

Commencement volunteers needed

If you are interested and available, sign up to volunteer to assist with Fall Commencement, which will be Friday, Dec. 15, at Globe Life Field. Sign-up spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have questions about the volunteer roles, email Ryan Gilmore. Volunteers are invited to sign up for a tour of Globe Life Field that will start after volunteer training on Thursday, Dec. 14.

| Call for heritage, history month programs

The Intercultural Student Engagement Center is now accepting events centered on educational and social issues, community building, and identity affirmation for the nationally recognized heritage and history months. Submissions will be included on a University graphic calendar marketed to the UTA community. Sign up now. The deadline to register an event for Black History Month is Wednesday, Dec. 20.
