The Office of Marketing, Messaging, and Engagement has launched the Maverick Factor advertising and branding campaign, with over 400 commercial spots in the DFW market and 10 billboards across the region. The Office for Cultural Engagement & Social Change and the Native American Heritage Month Committee are excited to provide this year's list of events happening on campus during Native American Heritage Month, which is nationally recognized throughout the month of November.

The Center for Mexican American Studies will show the Santos Vive documentary, followed by a discussion with Richard Gonzales, UTA alumnus, activist, and writer, today, Thursday, Oct. 26, 5:30-9 p.m. in the Carlisle Suite of University Center. The documentary tells the story of 12-year-old Santos Rodriguez, who 50 years ago was killed by a Dallas police officer.

| Fall Harvest Food Giveaway

The UTA Fraternity & Sorority Community invites all faculty, staff, their families, and community members to celebrate the fall season at Great Pumpkin Carnival, set for Monday, Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m. in Maverick Circle. Great Pumpkin Carnival will be a free, safe, and fun trick-or-treating event with games, activities, popcorn, and candy.

UTA is holding flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinics for employees, retirees, and their covered dependents Tuesday, Oct. 31, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 1, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Room 113 of Trinity Hall. About 100 slots are available for each day. Register. The latest COVID-19 booster will be available while supplies last.

Tour for new faculty and staff
|
New faculty and staff are welcome to join a campus tour on the last Friday of every month. Guided walking tours last approximately 1.5 hours. To attend, arrive at the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center, 580 South Center Street, about 15 minutes before start time. The next tour is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. Email questions to campustours@uta.edu.

Final volleyball home games

There are three opportunities left to support the Lady Mavs at a home volleyball game this season. Games will be held at College Park Center Monday, Oct. 30, 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, 6 p.m., and noon Saturday, Nov. 4.

| Research Enhancement Program grant applications
|
Applications for Research Enhancement Program (REP) grants will be accepted beginning Monday, Nov. 6, with a deadline of Friday, Dec. 8. REP grants are designed to help launch new research and to serve as a foundation for future research.

For UT System Day, the Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement, Staff Advisory Council, and Employee Advisory Council will stop by each department with mid-week treats to acknowledge and appreciate faculty and staff for being a part of the UT System. Visits will be through 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

SecureConnector auto-install to UTA Windows devices
|
Beginning Friday, Nov. 17, the Office of Information Technology will auto-install SecureConnector on all UTA-owned and -managed Windows devices. SecureConnector is security software that authenticates machines trying to join the UTA network. This work is part of the Endpoint Security project and will improve security across the UTA network. There is no action needed from faculty and staff at this time.

Arlington’s RAPID autonomous vehicles have been updated to offer increased accessibility and accommodate more riders. UTA students, faculty, and staff ride free. Book a ride around campus or around downtown through the Arlington Transportation app or by calling 817-784-7382.
