Volunteers needed for Residence Life Move-In Day

Volunteer for Move-In Day to help welcome students to their new on-campus homes. Move-In Day will be 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 for residence halls and Friday, Aug. 16 for apartments. Volunteers will receive a free volunteer T-shirt for moving items into new students' rooms in residence halls and assisting with the check-in process for apartments. Organizers ask that anyone who signs up to drive mule carts is trained and certified prior to Move-In Day. Sign up for shifts by Tuesday, Aug. 13, 5 p.m. For more information, email Quinton Lane, assistant director of Apartment and Residence Life.

Hanbo Shim, assistant professor of management, recently won the Ralph Alexander Best Dissertation Award from the Academy of Management’s Human Resources Division. His dissertation delves into the ways employee job performance is captured in the short term and long term.

Encourage graduating students to take 15 minutes to complete the Exit Survey and make a huge impact on UTA's future. They will receive an invitation from gradteam@uta.edu with the link to the survey. The link will also be available in Canvas. The data obtained from these surveys is used to inform program accreditation, policies, and initiatives in undergraduate and graduate education. Survey responses will be collected until Saturday, Aug. 31.

Texas Health Informatics Alliance Conference

The fourth annual Texas Health Informatics Alliance Conference will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Ballroom of the University Center. The conference will bring together the health informatics community in Texas, provide an opportunity to share work, and feature presentations and speakers. Registration closes Friday, Aug. 30.

Reporting to the Legislative Budget Board
|
Texas requires institutions of higher education to report spending greater than $5,000 per person on a training course, education course, or education program taken by an individual employee or administrator for a professional license, certification, or degree. If your department has employees to report, complete the spreadsheet and email it to Joe White, director of Procurement and Payment Services, before Friday, Aug. 16. This information is reported to the Legislative Budget Board (LBB) each fiscal year. Read more about the LBB Training Report.
