Final Steps: Supporting Priority Registration |
Priority registration begins on April 13. All tools are now available in Experience, with the exception of Time Tickets, which will be available to students as soon as possible.
We recognize that transitioning to a new system comes with some bumps, including a learning curve and potential technical issues. We’re here to support students and the campus community every step of the way and are committed to ensuring a successful registration cycle.
Please review the information below to understand what students should be doing now, what to expect during registration week, and how best to support them.
1. What Students Should Do Now |
Encourage students to complete the following steps before registration:
- Check and Resolve Holds
Any active hold that prevents registration
Student Self-Service → Student Profile → Registration Notices
Example: Account or billing hold → Office of the Bursar - Review the Course Schedule
Registration Self-Service → Browse Classes - Use Plan Ahead (Optional, but Recommended)
Students can build and save draft schedules to register faster when their time ticket opens - Watch for the Registration and Financial Agreement
The agreement is found as a notification in Experience. It must be acknowledged and submitted for students to register
Experience → Notification Icon - Watch for Time Tickets
Students can view their registration time and any holds in:
Student Self-Service → Student Profile → Registration Notices
⚠️ About Time Tickets (Formerly Registration Windows) |
We know students are eager to view their assigned registration time, called their Time Ticket, and you may be receiving questions about when they will be available.
Students may see a time ticket as we finalize assignments, but know it is not official until we make a formal announcement. We are actively working to assign time tickets to all students. We expect them to be available soon and will notify the campus via a follow-up email when official time tickets are ready to view in Experience.
Thank you for your patience. In the meantime, here's an overview of registration groups by day:
| - Monday, April 13 – Priority registration students
- Tuesday, April 14 – Priority students, graduate students, pharmacy (third & fourth year)
- Wednesday, April 15 – Pharmacy, Provost Scholars, unclassified students, seniors
-
Thursday, April 16 – Juniors, sophomores
- Friday, April 17 – Freshmen
Note: Within each group, registration time is based on total hours (including transfer, earned, and current hours).
2. What to Expect During Registration Week |
Once students have prepared, registration will follow a structured schedule:
Due to high demand, there may be delays in support response times, especially during peak registration periods.
3. Key Reminders to Reinforce with Students |
As you support students, these are the most important concepts to emphasize:
-
Student IDs in Banner/Experience
Looking for a student in Banner? You must include an "M" at the beginning of their current student ID number. - Self-Service Registration
Students are responsible for registering themselves. Advisors and departments will not enroll students (including for waitlists or overrides). - Registration PINs
Students must have a six-digit PIN from their advisor or department before registering. Encourage students to watch for this and save it once received. - If students are registering for both fall and winter courses, they will have separate PINs for each term.
-
Course Numbers and Prefixes Are Changing
Courses now follow a new format. This Course Crosswalk can help students and advisors map previous courses to the new structure. - Waitlisting
Waitlists act as a queue for open seats and do not guarantee enrollment. Students must act quickly if notified via email of an available seat. - Overrides
If a student needs an override, they must contact the Dean’s Office that manages the specific course. Once granted, students must still complete registration themselves. - Conditional Add/Drop
Students can swap courses – they will keep their current seat until they are successfully added to the new course.
4. Navigating Support During Registration |
During registration, start with self-service tools before reaching out for help.
- Explore online tools.
-
If you still need help, contact the Encompass Customer Care Center.
For faculty and staff, the Encompass Customer Care Center is a dedicated support line during Priority Registration.
Students should not call the Encompass Customer Care Center.
- Direct students to the Using Experience page for step-by-step guides, demo videos, FAQs, and more.
- If they still need help, direct them to the IT Helpdesk:
Extended IT Helpdesk Hours for Priority Registration (April 13 – May 1)
7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
If you call after 8:00 p.m., your request will be submitted as a help ticket and addressed the next business day.
