Emergency Cold Weather Shelter Activated

Due to extreme cold weather predicted this weekend, The MAC (3295 W. 72nd Ave.) will serve as an emergency cold weather shelter. It will open on Saturday, January 18 at noon and operate until noon on Tuesday, January 21.

New Items Now Accepted at Westminster Sustainability Center

New Items Accepted at Westminster Sustainability Center

The Westminster Sustainability Center is now accepting more hard-to-recycle items, including certain down-filled materials. Check the labels of your old jackets, comforters, sleeping bags, etc. If the tag says it contains at least 50% down, the center can likely accept it for a $2 fee per item.

Big Dry Creek Trail Detours

Additional safety detours are in place as work continues on the Big Dry Creek Streambank Restoration Project. The western underpass near 104th Avenue is closed due to flooding and icy conditions. Please travel to the eastern underpass near 104th Avenue and Hylands Creek to access City Park. This detour is expected to last through February.

In addition, a section of Big Dry Creek Trail from the roundabout to City Park is closed while crews complete pipe repairs. This closure is expected to last at least through the weekend, with intermittent closures continuing through February. Thank you for your patience and understanding as crews work to improve Big Dry Creek's water quality and flood management capabilities through City Park.

Participate in City Council Meetings

The community is always invited to participate in City Council meetings scheduled on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. in City Hall. You can participate during the public comment portion of the meeting in several ways:

Submit written comments in advance via email to PublicComment@westminsterco.gov by 12 p.m. (noon) the day of the meeting.

Leave verbal comments in advance by calling 303-706-3111 by 12 p.m. (noon) the day of the meeting.

Participate in person during live City Council meetings. To speak in person, you must sign up in the City Hall lobby from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. on the evening of the meeting.
