| Measuring the psilocybin potency of mushrooms
|
Medical professionals have found that the active ingredients in mushrooms, psilocybin and psilocin, are safe and effective for treating conditions such as treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. To help clinicians measure the doses of mushrooms for treatment, Kevin Schug and UTA colleagues have created a method to determine the clinical potency of psilocybin and psilocin in a hallucinogenic mushroom species.

It is an all-day reading of Homer's The Odyssey, with 15-minute reading slots that allow for audience participation. Interdisciplinary Research Program
|
Submit a proposal to the the 2024 Interdisciplinary Research Program (IRP) by Monday, April 15. The IRP strengthens UTA’s research capacity and fosters new collaborations by supporting interdisciplinary research projects between faculty members from different disciplines. Up to $20,000 in funding is offered for each IRP project. Learn more about IRP's purpose and proposal requirements.

Join UTA for the 10th annual Jazz Brunch on Saturday, April 20. Enjoy a catered V.I.P. brunch featuring delicious food and great music in the heart of the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival. Tickets are $35 and include brunch and non-alcoholic drinks. Brunch is available from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with UTA jazz performances scheduled for 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. Register by Saturday, April 16.

The Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement has created the Employee Emergency Fund (EEF) to provide short-term assistance for employees experiencing significant temporary financial hardship. This fund will help eligible employees cover basic needs. If you would like to make a contribution to the EEF, donations can be made through automatic payroll deduction or online through the EEF giving website.

| Building Emergency Safety Team

The Office of Emergency Management is asking University leaders to appoint a Building Emergency Safety Team (BEST) program coordinator, who will serve as the point of contact for a unit, department, or building in the area of emergency preparedness and safety. | Register for the Research and Innovation Exposition

Faculty, staff, students, and community members are invited to the 2024 Research and Innovation Exposition on Monday, April 22, at College Park Center. A continental breakfast, lunch, and a closing reception will be included in this all-day event. Speakers, including UTA faculty and staff members and University President Jennifer Cowley, will discuss the power of research at UTA and how to make a difference with your research. Registration is free and open until Monday, April 15.

| Office of Community Standards volunteer roles

The Office of Community Standards strives to uphold a high standard of personal and academic integrity for all students. This is achieved through a conduct process that focuses on personal responsibility and accountability for students’ actions and the impact those actions might have on the greater community. To ensure a fair process, the department is looking for faculty and staff to serve as hearing officers, advisors, and appeal officials. If you're interested in volunteering, email conduct@uta.edu.
