Class of 2023

  • Scholarship Season will be over in just a couple months! My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply!  Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website.  Make sure to check back often.

  • Graduation Information - Emails will be sent out the week after spring break regarding the graduation ceremony on June 9 for the Class of 2023.  Please watch your inbox (and check your junk mail!) and make sure to read them thoroughly!

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all seniors is to complete and turn in a minimum of 20 service hours. These hours need to have been completed between June 11, 2022 and June 2, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours asap to Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Reinmuth. Forms available in the front office or on our website.

  • Decision Day 2023 - If you are planning to attend college (technical/2-year/4-year) next fall, National Decision Day is May 1st! This is the date that most colleges ask for your commitment to their school. Plan to represent your college plans on Monday, May 1st by wearing all your college swag!  We'll try to take a picture by the board in the HS hallway that day as well.

Class of 2024

  • Visit a College! Even if you just visit a college here in Pierce County, you won't regret stepping on campus to learn more about what college life is about.  So, take the time to visit a college today or plan a trip to visit a college out of state soon. Here is a blog article about "Thinking more deeply about the campus visit..."

  • SAT in the spring? I always recommend that college bound juniors take the SAT the spring of their junior year as a practice test.  Make sure to visit the SAT CollegeBoard website for registration dates.

  • Applying via the CommonApp?  If the college you will be applying for uses the CommonApp, you can start now in your application preparation!  Here are three big tips - 1. Common App announced that the 2023-2024 essay prompts will remain the same. Follow this link to see what the essay prompts are. 2. CommonApp has put out a handy guide for helping first year students!  Make sure to visit the Application guide for first-year students. 3. Search writing requirements for specific colleges. The CommonApp writing requirements resource makes it easy for students to look up essay and writing supplement requirements, if any, for individual colleges.

  • Want ALL the info about the College Admissions Process?  The National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) has put out their 23-24 Guide to the College Admissions Process brochure.  This 104-page document will give you all the information you ever wanted about picking, applying to, and getting accepted to all the different types of colleges out there.

Need a way to get those volunteer hours?
We could use some HS students who are great in Math or English who would like to tutor Elementary kids.  Also, BASC is having record numbers of kids in the afternoon and could use some help with the program after school. Please encourage your students to volunteer to help and earn community service hours. See Mrs. Neff in the high school office if you are interested!
