Throughout the month of September, we have made quite a lot of progress on our University’s new strategic plan. In this message, I will share with you a summary of plan development to date, available resources for those looking to learn more and an outline of our next steps.
The Strategic Planning Task Force has been meeting weekly since mid-August and will continue to meet through November. This is the group charged with soliciting, reviewing, developing and refining the ideas which form the foundation of our next strategic plan. In addition, we have held several information sessions to provide you with information about our timeline for completion, our process for developing the plan and the key elements of the strategic plan at this time. In just the past few weeks, we have shared updates with the following groups:
|
- Sept. 3 — Virtual information session for CSU students, faculty and staff members
- Sept. 18 — Virtual information session for CSU staff members
- Sept. 19 — In-person update to the CSU Board of Trustees
|
In addition, the Division of Student Belonging and Success is conducting outreach to students to provide another opportunity for them to learn about the emerging plan and to provide feedback. I will also be discussing these efforts with the leadership of our Student Government Association to seek their direct input.
And thanks to so many of you, we have received more than 375 responses to our strategic plan feedback survey. Please know that we greatly appreciate your involvement in this process and the time you have taken to provide your input. The Strategic Planning Task Force has been thoroughly reviewing your responses, and already we have made critical revisions to aspects of the strategic plan based on your input. I have personally read each and every comment provided on the survey and am grateful for your candor, ideas and passion for CSU.
Much of the information that has been shared to date is available on our Strategic Planning webpage, which we will update throughout the process. If you were unable to attend one of the webinars or if would like to go back and review them, the recordings are linked online. On this page, you can also find a summary of the feedback the Task Force has received and what changes they have made.
There will be more opportunities to provide input and learn how the strategic plan is developing later this fall. The Strategic Planning webpage includes a schedule of upcoming updates, such as the annual State of the University address on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Throughout the fall, you can continue to provide your thoughts on the emerging plan using this online form.
Soon, the Task Force will begin conducting comprehensive research that will inform our specific goals and define the benchmarks that will tell us if we’re heading in the right direction. I will also be meeting with many other constituent groups, both at CSU and in Greater Cleveland, to share details with them and hear their thoughts.
Our new strategic plan will provide the framework to guide us as we ensure everyone at CSU thrives and that all of our students can access unlimited opportunities to learn, grow and design their future. I am eager to partner with all of you on this vitally important work.
