Incentives and sanctions are used in treatment courts to support or discourage certain behaviors from participants, but not all options have proven to be effective for change. It’s important that treatment courts consider which incentives and sanctions are most appropriate to incorporate in their programming and utilize them in an effective way. Incentives and sanctions, when implemented successfully, can lead to increased engagement, retention, and positive treatment outcomes for participants.
This webinar will discuss effective ways to utilize incentives and sanctions within a treatment court setting. Speakers will explain ways to respond to behavioral health non-compliance in a clinical way rather than with traditional punitive approaches. The audience will also hear from a treatment court judge who will share examples of incentives and sanctions that have led to positive outcomes for their treatment court participants.
