In this season of thankfulness, I am grateful for the shared commitment of UTA and the UT System Board of Regents for creating opportunities for more students to succeed.
This shared commitment is why we are expanding our signature Blaze Forward program beginning in the fall 2025 semester. Any qualifying student whose family has an adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less—and meets all other eligibility criteria—can attend UTA and have their tuition and mandatory fees covered through the program. (You can read more about the eligibility requirements on our Blaze Forward webpage.)
This year, 49% of all UTA undergraduate students had their tuition and fees fully covered. The University committed $400 million in financial support to students entering the fall 2024 semester. Now even more Texas residents, regardless of financial background, can experience the transformative power of a UTA education. I am thrilled that we can help even more students achieve their dreams of a college degree.
Blaze Forward isn’t the only thing we have to be thankful for as we break for Thanksgiving and start down the home stretch of the fall semester. We again have been recognized as Texas’ top public university for military veterans and their families. We have incredible faculty who are leading in the classroom, out in the field, and in our communities. And there are big things ahead in 2025, from the celebration of our 130th anniversary to the addition of leading faculty through our RISE 100 program.
I am thankful for the contributions of every member of the Maverick community. I hope you can spend time with friends and loved ones over this holiday break, and I look forward to a strong finish to the fall semester.
Happy Thanksgiving, Mavericks!
