Set, hut! Nguyen named UTA flag football coach
|
Bringing a wealth of experience, Melinda Nguyen has been named the first-ever head coach of UTA's women's flag football program.
Why it matters: Nguyen will make history as the leader of Texas' first women’s flag football team at an NCAA Division I school.
Going deeper: Nguyen joins UTA after three seasons as the head coach at Kansas Wesleyan, where she went 49-17, going to the NAIA Flag Football Finals each season. She has also served as an offensive coordinator for the Philippines women’s national team and the assistant coach for the US 15U junior national team that won a silver medal in the 2025 Junior International Cup.

A heartfelt thank you to food drive supporters

The Maverick Pantry is deeply grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s food drive, “Fill a Pantry, Fill a Heart.”
Why it matters: Because of your donations, we were able to collect over 7,000 food items for this holiday season and onward. These items will support those facing hardship. Your generosity and compassion have made a meaningful impact.
Going deeper: Thank you to our departments, donors, volunteers, partners, and especially Andres Morales and the Student Government for your leadership and commitment to this initiative, as well as President Cowley for her steadfast support. Together, your generosity filled pantry shelves, brought hope to many, and demonstrated the power of a compassionate, resilient community.

Fall graduates, you worked hard all semester and now it's time to celebrate.
Why it matters: Join friends and family for the MavGrad Celebration, a festive event honoring UTA's fall 2025 graduating class. Enjoy refreshments, music, and photo opportunities.
Important information: The celebration will be held in Brazos Park Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m. Graduating students will be able to pick up their first UTA alumni T-shirt at the Alumni Relations table.

☕ As we head into the winter break, Inclusion Coffee will be operating under adjusted hours, so you can still stop by for your favorite drinks. The adjusted hours will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Thursday, Dec. 11, to Friday, Dec. 19, and Monday, Jan. 5, to Friday, Jan. 9. It will be closed on weekends during this period.
