A UTA design/build class will help build four houses in east Arlington that will be available for lease to seniors. The project will allow students to combine what they have learned in the classroom with practical, on-the-job experience in designing and building.

Hosted by UTA Dining and the Office of International Education's Department of Global Engagement, UTA's annual campus-wide Thanksgiving Dinner is today, Tuesday, Nov. 21, 5-8 p.m. Students on a meal plan will be able to attend for free. Students without a meal plan, faculty, and staff can purchase tickets for $9.89 at the door.

National AIDS Memorial partners with UTA Libraries
|
A portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be displayed on the sixth floor of UTA Central Library as part of a special exhibit from Tuesday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Dec. 2. On the first day of the exhibit, UTA Libraries will host a special event from noon to 2 p.m. University offices and local organizations will have tables set up to provide information about LBGTQ+ history and resources about HIV and AIDS.

The University Center Operations Department is kicking off Finals Week with its annual cookie giveaway, set for Monday, Dec. 4 and Tuesday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Stop by for cookies and hot beverages at the Commons lobby and at University Center, near the housing office. This is the perfect fuel to prepare you for the last bit of the fall.

Commencement is almost here, and it is time to celebrate our graduates! Fall 2023 graduates can drive, walk, or roll by the University Center Circle on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. to receive a free UTA alumni car decal while supplies last. Contact alumni@uta.edu with any questions.

Mavericks can access 40 professional certificates from leading companies such as Google, Salesforce, IBM, Meta, and Intuit through the Career Academy on Coursera platform. UTA students who speak a language in addition to English can test their proficiency to receive the Global Seal of Biliteracy, a micro-credential that conveys language proficiency. The test is offered in more than 40 languages through the Department of Modern Languages. Email proficiency@uta.edu for more information.
