Pranesh Aswath, who has served UTA for more than 33 years in numerous senior leadership and faculty roles, will be leaving the University to become provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Texas State University. DFW air quality continues to miss EPA safety goals

Purnendu “Sandy” Dasgupta, professor of chemistry and biochemistry and the Hamish Small Chair of Ion Analysis at UTA, conducted research indicating that the ozone levels of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area have exceeded safety levels set by the Environmental Protection Agency for the last 20 years.

UTA employee travels to Dubai for health care summit

Erica Hinojosa, a simulation technology manager in the UTA College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital, recently returned home from Dubai, where she represented the SimGHOST organization at the Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare Summit. Hinojosa serves as the newly appointed president of SimGHOST, a group of simulation health care professionals.

AA-FH-PO-05 Faculty Proficiency in English Policy
This policy is being updated as part of the five-year review process. The Texas Education Code requires that courses offered for credit are taught in English and that all faculty members are proficient in the use of the English language. This policy outlines determination of English proficiency and testing of faculty members who are not proficient in English.

GA-LA-PO-01 Public Information Policy & GA-LA-PR-01 Open Records Requests Procedure
These policies and procedures were updated as part of a regularly scheduled year review. Department titles and processes were updated. Minor updates were made to reflect the process for alerting Marketing, Messaging, and Engagement when requests from legislators, governmental offices, or media members are received. Minor updates were made in the procedure to reflect charges for personnel time spent gathering requested information.

GA-LA-PO-04 The Handbook of Operating Policy & GA-LA-PR-05 The Handbook of Operating Policies Procedure
The paragraph on forms and exhibits referenced in the Handbook of Operating Policies (HOP) was updated to reflect current processes. To prevent broken web links, the form links will no longer be listed in the HOP. A link to the department forms webpage will be posted instead. In addition, language regarding internal department procedures was updated to reflect current processes. In the procedure, the paragraph on initiating the review or amendment process for a policy or procedure was updated to reflect current processes.

HR-E-PO-03 Progressive Corrective Action Policy
This policy was formerly named "Discipline and Dismissal of Classified Employees." The policy was rewritten to clarify expectations for corrections when an employee demonstrates performance deficiencies or behaviors outside of the policies, procedures, and principles of the community of UTA. The corrective action process applies to classified, administrative, and professional (A&P) staff- and temporary employees. However, there is a separate termination process for classified and A&P employees. The effect of demotion or termination on employee benefits is also addressed.
