Maverick Stampede brings the UTA community together

In celebration of the new school year, Mavericks gathered for Maverick Stampede events, including MavsMeet Convocation, Waffleopolis, and Global Maverick Welcome. The fun will continue this week with events like Activity Fair Day, Military and Veteran Services Resource Fair, and multiple welcome back events held across campus. Encourage students to participate and get involved in the University community.

Preserving Arlington's Vegas

UTA Libraries has partnered with Arlington Baptist University this summer to preserve the legacy of the Top O'Hill Terrace tearoom and casino. UTA history students are documenting this project on a new website, offering a narrative of these collaborative efforts.

The Empowerment, Development, and Growth in Education for Hispanic Graduate Students (EDGE) Center invites all graduate faculty and staff to visit Science Hall Room 322 tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 27, for an open house event. Celebrate the first anniversary of UTA’s Post-Consumer Compost Program at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the University Center. The date marks one year since the program received the Texas Environmental Leadership Award. The celebration will be a chance to learn about the program and how you can get involved.

Community partner breakfast

The Center for Service Learning will hold its annual Community Partner Breakfast on Friday, Sept. 6, from 8-11 a.m. in Trinity Hall. This free event brings UTA faculty and nonprofit agencies together to network and build partnerships for service-learning course projects. RLC kickoff event

More than 200 students and employees attended the second annual Residential Learning Communities (RLC) Fall Kickoff on Sunday, Aug. 18, in Brazos Park. First-year students in RLCs met other RLC students and RLC faculty and staff while enjoying free food, carnival rides, and activities designed to build community. RLC staff are excited to have approximately 400 freshmen participating in 14 different learning communities across campus for the 2024-25 academic year.

StormReady

The Office of Emergency Management has renewed UTA’s StormReady designation by achieving goals outlined by the National Weather Service (NWS).

 

StormReady communities are required to:

  • Establish a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center
  • Have more than one way to receive severe weather warnings and forecasts
  • Create a system that monitors weather conditions locally
  • Promote the importance of public readiness through community seminars
  • Develop a formal hazardous weather plan, which includes training severe weather spotters and holding emergency exercises

UTA has been a part of the NWS StormReady program since November 2011.

3rd annual rural health conference, a focus on 2030 rural healthy people: improving  access to care and rural health outcomes

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Center for Rural Health and Nursing (CRHN) will host the third Annual Rural Health Conference Oct. 23-24 on campus. This year’s event focuses on improving access to care and rural health outcomes. Payroll fringe benefit encumbrances

Effective fiscal year 2025, updated payroll fringe benefit encumbrances will be activated in UTShare. Accurate encumbrance information will help departments prevent budget overspending and improve cash flow predictions for all budgets. Contact Knowledge Services with questions.
