Changes to Chapter 300 of the UNC System Policy Manual

Colleagues,
The UNC System has made some policy updates that institutions systemwide must implement between now and Jan. 1, 2025. The changes do not affect SHRA employees and faculty members.
One of the new policies modifies some employee job categories for EHRA nonfaculty. The new categories are now in effect, and more details about those categories are below.
- SAAO Tier I has been renamed SAAO. SAAO stands for Senior Academic Administrative Officer.
- Employees who were in the SAAO Tier II and the IRIT categories are now in a new employee job category called Exempt Professional Staff or EPS. IRIT stands for Instructional, Research and Information Technology. Employees who were in the IRIT category included EHRA nonfaculty, law enforcement officers, some law enforcement support staff and NC State Extension employees.
University Human Resources will update its website and materials to reflect the new employee job categories and ask university partners to update their websites and materials. We ask for your patience because it will take a considerable amount of time for UHR and our university partners to update websites and materials.
