Professor of Literature John Blanco was recognized with an honorable mention for his book, “Counter–Hispanization in the Colonial Philippines: Literature, Law, Religion, and Native Custom” (Amsterdam University Press, 2023) by the LASA Colonial Section Book Prize.

Department of Music alumnus Scott Paulson was selected as this year’s Excellence in Stewardship Award staff honoree. For more than 30 years, he has stewarded the Memorial Carillon atop Geisel Library, weaving the instrument into UC San Diego’s cultural fabric.
