It’s hard to believe that the Fall semester is already half over, but VINSE still has many exciting events planned.
Today we are hosting our 200th VINSE high school field trip. This year, students from 30 schools across middle TN will come to VINSE and learn about solar cells, microfluidic devices, and forensics experiments. If you are interested in participating in VINSE nanoscience outreach, please check out our new NanoGuides program (see below).
This year, NanoDay! will be on December 8th – please mark your calendars and plan to participate in our biggest research-focused event of the year. As always, I welcome your feedback and discussion on VINSE initiatives. Please join me for the Director’s coffee hour on December 1st.
At our VINSE Fall Faculty Celebration last week, I looked back at a few of our past successful initiatives, including pilot funding and diversifying our support of researchers in the School of Medicine (SOM) and VUMC – remarkably, in the past two years alone, we went from having VINSE users in 7 different departments in SOM and VUMC to 19 different departments!
I now seek the VINSE community’s support in pursuing larger scale research initiatives, like the $22M NSF BioFoundry proposal that was submitted earlier this month and involves 8 VINSE faculty, and launching a new initiative to expand our external connections through a VINSE Industrial Affiliates Program (see below). Have a great rest of the semester!
