HOUSE AND SENATE GOP MEMBERS SEEK INVESTIGATION INTO FAFSA ROLLOUT
A group of Republicans from both the House and the Senate are calling for an investigation by the Government Accountability Office into the rollout of the new FAFSA form. The rollout of the form had seen several struggles, including delays and a glitchy launch. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP) Chair Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-NC) requested the investigation with a group of other lawmakers citing that,“Although students have traditionally been able to start submitting a FAFSA each year on October 1st, Education was three months late launching the new application and it was not consistently available on Education’s website until early January … These delays have left many students uncertain about their educational future.”
