   GRADUATION APPLICATION TIME   

Fall 2026 Commencement is quickly approaching, and it’s already time to apply for graduation! The deadline for bachelor’s degree candidates is Friday, Sept. 18, and the deadline for master’s and doctoral degree candidates is Friday, Sept. 25. If you need help affording your regalia, check out UNT’s Mean Green Gowns for Grads program. All students are eligible to apply for the program, but applications are assessed based on financial need. Undergrad and grad students may submit applications from Wednesday, Sept. 23, to Friday, Oct. 23. Doctoral students should check the website for additional application information.

 

   CAREER PATH OPPORTUNITIES   

With the fall semester in full swing, career fair season is starting to pick up. Here’s what’s coming up: 

  • The UNT Department of Accounting will host Meet the Accounting Firms Night from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the University Union Emerald Ballroom 314.

  • The School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management will host the SMHM Career Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the University Union Emerald Ballroom 314. 

  • The College of Music will host their Music Career Night from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Music Building Recital Hall. 

  • Discovery Park will host a STEM Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, throughout the main hallways on the first floor. 

Reminder for all career fairs and networking opportunities: Dress professionally and bring several copies of your resume. Check out more career events on the UNT Career Center schedule and keep an eye on calendar.unt.edu for more opportunities. 

 

   SEEKING STUDENT ORGS   

If you’re interested in forming a new student organization for the 2026-27 school year, the New Student Organization Request process is now open. The four-part process does not guarantee approval of your org and can take at least three weeks to complete. Upon approval, the student org receives the privileges of registration and must register each school year to continue to be classified as an active organization on campus. To get started, fill out the New Student Organization Request form.

If your new student org has already been registered and approved, then join New Org Bootcamp from 12:45 to 2:15 p.m. every Wednesday from Sept. 30 through Oct. 28 in the Business Leadership Building, Room 010. This program provides all the tools to run a successful student org. Make sure to register for a spot by Sunday, Sept. 27. 

 

   SEMESTER BOOST   

Looking to make the most of your fall semester? Register now for an 8 week accelerated course to stay on track toward earning your degree or graduating sooner. Here’s how:

1. Go to myUNT and select Class Search.

2. Enter “%” in the search field to view all subjects.

3. Under Academic Session, select Eight Week - Second to see available 8 Week 2 classes.

More classes are being added, so make sure to check back to see what’s available. Registration ends Thursday, Oct. 8, and classes start Monday, Oct. 12.

 

   CASH CONSIDERATIONS   

Get a jumpstart on your financial future and make savvy money moves with the UNT Student Money Management Center, powered by DATCU. The center is on the second floor of the Eagle Student Services Center (ESSC) inside UNT One Stop, and you can schedule a financial coaching appointment to tackle your educational finances by learning and applying financial capabilities like budgeting, saving, navigating student loans, or building credit.

DYK? The College of Music hosts many events you can attend for FREE! From artist recitals and jazz bands to ensembles and guest performances, there’s never a shortage of music entertainment on campus.

   ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATES   

Here’s a heads up on some construction news around Denton: 

  • Bonnie Brae Street has reopened near DATCU Stadium just in time for home football games! There are now two lanes in each direction from Willowwood Street to I-35E. For southbound traffic, there is still only one through lane under the I-35E bridge and across the Frontage Road, but it opens to two through lanes and a dedicated right-turn lane as you approach Airport Road.

  • Denton's micro surfacing project — giving roads around town a longer life — is heading toward campus. Phase 2 of the project, happening now through Saturday, Sept. 19, includes Welch Street, and Phase 3, scheduled Monday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 25, includes Avenue A and North Texas Boulevard. The work planned on Wednesday, Sept. 23, for North Texas Boulevard (from Oak Street to I-35) will include partial lane closures — first the outside lanes and then the inside lanes — and short intermittent closures to crosswalks and entry/exit points to Lot 20.

   BEYOND THE CUBE   

During the COVID-19 pandemic, UNT alumnus Kyle Wright (’15) was diagnosed with autism and needed an outlet to help him deal with the disruption to his routine during lockdown. That’s when he bought 100 Rubik's Cubes and started making art. Six years later, he now has a YouTube channel with nearly 30k subscribers. Read more about what inspired him and how he uses his art to help the community.
