| New Discovery Carts in the Gardens |
As you are out and about in the Gardens, be on the lookout for our new docent-led, family-friendly discovery carts, where you can explore such topics as pollination, birds, and native plants, with direct ties to what you can see in our Gardens! They can currently be found in the Hourglass Lake Pavilion in the Meadow Garden, Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 am–1 pm (through August 11).
Our next location will be in the Idea Garden, Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 am–2 pm (August 16–September 22). With the Idea Garden discovery cart, explore herbs, fruits, and grains and their stories, including those from Africa, South America, and other diasporas.

Longwood Reimagined Continues |
Another milestone moment in our Longwood Reimagined project began last week with the lifting of steel for the new glass structure that will house our beloved Cascade Garden. Originally designed by acclaimed Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, our Cascade Garden is the only remaining Burle Marx design in North America. We have worked with a team of scholars, preservation experts, and the Burle Marx Landscape Design Studio to preserve and move the garden into this new 3,800-square-foot jewel box that will give the plants more room to continue to grow and flourish. More than 27 tons of domestic steel will be used to construct the house. We expect to begin installing glass later this summer and begin replanting the garden in spring. We can’t wait to once again share the beauty of the Cascade Garden with you in fall 2024!

Family Fun in the Gardens! |
Designed for all ages (including young children with early bedtimes), our Members-only Hours on August 23 feature a family-friendly concert at 6 pm with Grammy Award-winning band Secret Agent 23 Skidoo and their fun take on funk, hip hop, and soul.
After the concert, head over to the Main Fountain Garden for an Illuminated Fountain Performance beginning at 7:30 pm; the fountain performance will begin with white lights and transition to colored lights as the sun sets.
The Café and Beer Garden will be open for Members to enjoy until 7:30 pm. 1906 will accept reservations until 6:00 pm. Reservations for 1906 are strongly encouraged via OpenTable.

Family-Focused Festive Friday |
For our next Festive Friday, gather the family for a fun night of circus art, animated movie music favorites, and much more. On August 4, enjoy a view from the top of our Chimes Tower, take in the spectacle of the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, enjoy Caribbean steel pan music in the Beer Garden and top it off our To Infinity and Beyond Illuminated Fountain Performance at 9:15 pm.
Member reservations are required if arriving after 3 pm. Reservations are not required for Gardens Premium Members and Innovators.
