february 2025
February 1 A great way to start the month of February would be to pray for our student body. Pray as the Lord leads.

Scripture focus: Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

Thank God for the leadership of President Scott Rich! Pray for him today and throughout the month.

Ask the Lord to move in the hearts, minds, and lives of the Sterling College community. May we honor Him in all we do, say, and think.

Thank the Lord for the Sterling College Admissions team! Pray that they will be exceedingly successful in recruiting the right number of students for Fall of 2025.

Students are settling into the routine of the Spring semester. Ask the Lord to richly bless them in their classes, activities, and relationships.

Women's softball and men's baseball both compete today. Pray that their actions, on and off the field, reflect Christ.

Pray for students that are traveling home for the weekend. Ask the Lord to protect them and to bless their time with family and friends.

Scripture focus: Isaiah 1:16-17 "Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow."

Faculty play such a vital role in the student experience. Pray that Sterling College faculty will, first, honor the Lord in all that they say and do, and second, make learning enjoyable and exciting for the students.

Pray for the women in Evans, McCreery, and Douglas dorms that they will continue to grow into women of God, and that they will become inspirations to those around them.

Praise God for never leaving us. Pray that students realize they do not have to handle their problems alone and that they would look to Him for guidance and comfort.

Please pray for our international students as they continue to immerse themselves in our culture. Pray that God will continue to strengthen them in this time of separation from their friends and families and that He will guide them over the next several months, providing for their needs.

Happy Valentine’s Day! “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

Please pray for our students to have positive attitudes about their academics and to have a thirst to learn.

Scripture focus: Ephesians 5:1-2 "Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

For those struggling to make wise decisions while at college, pray for wisdom, accountability, discernment, and grace for our students.

Pray that the men in Kilbourn, Campbell, and Douglas dorms will continue to grow into men of God. Pray that these buildings would be vessels to instigate conversations of Gods goodness, grace, and love.

Pray that the Warrior Family would grow the Fruit of the Spirit in abundance: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Pray for our Resident Assistants, vital student leaders on our campus, who do the important and challenging work of assisting our Resident Directors, in making our dormitories homes for our students to live in.

Though we are a Christian college, there are many students in the Warrior Family that are not yet followers of Jesus. Pray that the “eyes of their heart” will be opened to the Gospel — the greatest news in all the world, that no matter how bad they’ve blown it, God’s grace in Jesus is more.

Thank the Lord today for Daryl Nuss '71, who serves on the Board of Trustees. Today is his birthday!

Scripture focus: Philippians 2:14-16 "Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain."

Ask God to guide those who are planning campus activities. Pray for students to break out of their shells, attend events, and create lasting memories and relationships.

As the days are short and often cold, the winter blues can set in. Ask God to revive our spirit and to help us find joy in the little things.

Pray that God would work on the hearts of the students and that they realize how amazing of an opportunity they have to be earning an education at Sterling College.

Pray for the students who are living off campus. Pray that God would help them balance the many responsibilities they have and keep them safe as they travel to and from campus.

Please pray for our nation’s government and the leaders of our country.

-25 Verse of the Year:  I Corinthians 15:58 "So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” (NLT)
