Featured Inventors: Turning an Old Idea into a Scalable Innovation
|
Metals such as steel, aluminum, and copper are the foundation of modern industry, yet producing them especially in ultrathin forms comes with a steep energy and carbon cost. Traditional rolling methods require heating slabs to more than 1,200°C, passing them through multiple reduction and finishing stages, and consuming about five gigajoules of energy per ton of steel. This approach not only drives up manufacturing costs but also generates roughly two tons of carbon dioxide emissions for every ton of rolled metal. InnovationU – TAMUS Resources for Entrepreneurs

After over 25 years of dedicated service to The Texas A&M University System, we celebrate the retirement of Darrell Kuhn, Senior Licensing Manager. For 11 of those years, Darrell managed the Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s technology commercialization program and also served as Quality Manager for the TTI Proving Ground Laboratory at Texas A&M’s RELLIS Campus. In addition to his service to TTI he has also worked diligently with many other faculty in the College of Engineering to provide guidance on IP and commercialization, further demonstrating his expertise and commitment to supporting innovation across the Texas A&M System. For numerous years, Darrell also served as an instructor for first-year engineering students as part of Hullabaloo U. Please join us in thanking Darrell for his remarkable contributions and congratulating him on a well-deserved retirement.

Activate Fellowships for Entrepreneurial Scientists and Engineers
