WB SNOW SCHOOL!
With the cool evenings, every week now feels a little more like winter, and the excitement is building for all of us!
There’s an enormous amount of work happening across the resort to prepare for the season, particularly around the change in Daylight Saving Time. As shared previously, most private and group lessons will start 30 minutes later until mid-February, with that time added back to the latter part of the lesson. At a resort level, we’re planning for the same number of skiable hours as last winter, even if lift opening and closing times look a little different. Our Snow School and Resort leadership teams, alongside Lift Operations, Patrol, Mountain Safety, Lift Maintenance and our broader Mountain Operations partners, are working hard to make sure we’re ready.
We also recognize that this is new for all of us. We can plan extensively, challenge our assumptions and work through scenarios, but we’ll inevitably learn some things as we bring the plan to life this winter. When we do, we’ll adapt. It’s important that we head into the season with confidence in the work that has been done, while remaining open to making things better as we learn.
There is plenty to be excited about beyond that work. Investments in the new Showcase lift and Pika’s will bring meaningful improvements to the guest experience. Pika’s, in particular, is going to be an exciting improvement for the Snow School teams who spend so much of their winter there.
And finally, our people. We’re tracking well toward being fully staffed in Snow School this winter, across both frontline and leadership roles, and staffing across the broader resort is progressing well too. Over the next few newsletters, I’m looking forward to sharing more of the names, promotions and new roles that will help bring our operation to life this winter. We have a lot to look forward to.
Thank you for everything you’re doing to prepare, and I can’t wait to see our teams back on snow.
Sincerely,
Kyle Murphy
