Classic New Mexico
It was in the early 1970s that Josh first discovered the chemistry and technique for creating a new kind of glass, a cerulean silver blue with pinpricks of light, which he called New Mexico. He used this glass to make plates, vases, and goblets; someone once told him "Using your goblets, we feel like we're drinking from the sky!" (Josh wondered how far into the 2nd bottle they'd gotten before having such a vision.)

New Mexico glass also reminded him of the ocean's surface when viewed from high above, so he created paperweights and Planets full of swirling seas and continents teeming with life. And on the seventh day he looked upon his Planets and saw that they were good and ready for the retail market. (Just kidding!)

One amazing thing about New Mexico glass is how endlessly variable its colors and patterns can be. No two pieces are ever exactly the same! But the most amazing thing is how fascinating it has been to the artist himself for almost 50 years. Today we draw your attention to the many ways Josh has used this vibrant, evocative glass.
